Hi! Kind of new to this forum, though I've used TCOYF software for awhile now. I am 34 yrs old, with 3 small boys. I have unexplained infertility. My first two sons I got prego right away coming off of BCP; my last son I took a round of clomid after a failed yr of trying. I just don't ovulate and stop getting a menstrual cycle. People think I'm crazy and should just be happy with the 3 children I do have, but I just don't feel complete and our family doesn't. I've been trying now since 4/10. Last month I started my first round of clomid and am on CD 30 with still no ovulation. My question is should I wait longer and hope I ovualte late or should I start the next round of clomid? I'm just concerned too because our insurance doesn't cover infertility. So if the 6 rounds of clomid don't work, I really don't know what to do next. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi! I just finished (or still am in) my first cycle with clomid. I might be wrong, but I thought you had to get your period in order to start taking the next round of clomid. You many want to double check that just to be sure. If you can just take it, then I would! You just don't want to overstimulate your ovaries with too much clomid.
On another note. I'm sorry that you have to deal with people that say you should just be happy with your 3 children. I'm a strong believer that if you don't feel that your family is complete, then it's probably not. I'm sure there is one (or more) babes that are coming your way. Keep your chin up and GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!

I am almost positive that you have to wait for AF to come first. You should not take any meds without your doc knowing, but I'm sure you knew that. :) It's my understanding that Clomid only works right after AF, either in CD 3-7 or 5-9, right when the hormones are changing in order to grow good follies. DEFINITELY check with your doctor first. If you are unsuccessful with Clomid, maybe you could ask about Femara? Just a thought. I am on it, and I have had practically no side effects at all, and have grown many good follies from it. Hope this helps. Good luck to you!
I have to take Provea every month to get my period. I was still hoping for a chance to ovulate, but my temps keep dropping every morning. May I ask what is Femera?
I have ovulated as late as day 39 on clomid. So, I personally would hold on a bit longer.

I thought that if you didn't ovulate on a certain dose of Clomid that the doctor would up the dose the next time in order to get you to ovulate. When I took Clomid I ovulated so I don't have any experience with this so I could be wrong. I would make another appointment with your doctor before starting the next round. Since you are only doing 6 rounds of Clomid you want to make sure you are on the right dose and ovulating. I hope Clomid ends up working for you. I also think it shouldn't matter what others say about growing your family, it is your decision when to stop and you shouldn't have to defend that.
Here is an article that describes exactly how CLomid and Femara work in the body:
They both work similarly in that they help you grow healthy follicles in order to ovulate. I think there is probably a good reason why your doc prescribed you the Clomid first, just like mine did with me and the Femara. I agree with pp that you should talk to your doc about changing doses first to see if that helps. Good luck to you!!! :)
Thank you AngieB! I'm going to hold out till day 45, then start another round of Provea and up my Clomid to 100mg
I second the suggestion of getting your dose increased. I didn't O until I was on 150mg of Clomid
