We just went through our first IVF cycle... after a long 2 week wait,(14dpo) I had the blood test which confirmed...
We're PREGNANT!!!!! whooo hooooo!!!
We had 2 embryos transferred and am wondering if it's possible that we are pregnant with twins??? ????
My IVF nurse said the average range at this stage of pregnancy would be around 50 for the HCG.
Mine was 191 and progesterone was 74. Just curious what everyone's levels were around 14dpo.
I have another 2 weeks or so until my ultrasound, and the suspense is killing me... lol
I think mine was 300 at 13 DPO. Now I'm scared.
Honestly, one beta doesn't tell you much about multiples. Even the doubling rate is fairly unreliable. I know people who have had SKY HIGH betas following IVF and have a singleton and I have known women with low, and even betas that don't double properly end up with twins.
My first beta at 16DPO was 680 (where they usually want to see it at around 100). At 18DPO it was 1700ish. At our first ultrasound there were two heartbeats. Unfortunately, we lost one of them at 10ish weeks.
If twins are what you want - GOOD LUCK! But I definitely wouldn't get your heart emotionally attached to the idea based on one beta. Your number sounds good to me but it doesn't seem particularly high.

My daughter was concieved thanks to IVF with ICSI. She was born at 35w4d due to pPROM.
My son was concieved by *surprise!*, naturally, the month after I weaned my daughter. He was born at 39w4d after 17P shots and Procardia. Proof that miracles do happen after the long road of infertility and losses.
Kate's twin - 10w1d - 2009 ~*~*~*~*~*~ Missed Miscarriage - 10w4d - 2007
Mine was 502 at 14dpo with this pregnancy. One little boy.
With DD2 at was 242 at 13dpo.
Of course it could be twins, but I don't think your beta level necessarily indicates that.
Congratulations!!!! How exciting! I'm not sure this helps you at all but the closest hcg level I had drawn was on 17 DPO and it was 514. Five days later it was 4534. Both numbers were on the higher side of average but there's just one little baby in there. That being said, as pp mentioned, I have seen women post what seem to me to be lower hcg levels and they end up with twins!?!
With one of my twin pregnancies, my beta was 1,100 at 11 dpo - I swore it had to be twins, and I was right. With this pregnancy, it was 1,504 at 18 dpo, and 10,000 at 24 dpo, and while the number made us wonder a bit, there is def. just one in there!
Me + DH = 1 girl ~ 5/30/97 @ 34 wks (living w/paternal g.parents) + 1 boy ~ 6/9/04 @ 35+3 wks (severe, low-functioning autism) ~ PPROM w/both babies (#1 @ 26 wks/resealed; #2 @ 22 wks, never resealed)
And finally, after 6 years of fertility surgeries, meds, RPL, TCM, and everything else we could possibly do...
Baby Draven is here!!!
Born January 28th, 2011, 9:00 a.m., @ 37 weeks + 4 days (my first full-term baby!); 6 lbs 4 oz., 18" long, perfect, adorable, and worth every moment and everything that it took to get him here! Breastfeeding with supplements after multiple breast surgeries!
Feel free to ask me about my history of SIF, RPL, Stage IIII Endometriosis, UD and uterine reconstruction, and repeat PPROM and PTL!
See fertility history in bio...
My first hcg after IVf was 462. They were going up a lot but weren't doubling. Turned out I had a vanishing twin. Best wishes to you and congratulations!
We have our 2nd Beta tomorrow at which time they will schedule an ultrasound in a few weeks.... another 2ww! lol
Check out Beta Base.
It says twins median for 14DPO is 206 and singleton is 101. But still, too close to call. for good news, whatever that means for you!
If you are >30 and TTC #1 with losses come join the Triple Threats!
On 15DPO with my DD it was 646 and 1885 on 17dpo. So mine was higher than yours and only 1. :) I've seen women pg with twins on here and their betas was low so I don't think you can always tell just by betas.
My first beta with ds#2 at 11dpiui (injectables/IUI) was 187. They do think I had a vanishing twin, due to a bleeding episode and betas that were tripling suddenly slowing.
However, then I had very high (astronomically high) betas with ds#3 and there was only one kiddo in there. I don't remember the specific numbers but I do remember my OB saying they were off the charts. They were more than doubling, too. I do recall one of the betas being 27,000 something at 20-something dpo.
My friend had twin boys and her first beta at 10dpo was only 10!
anyway. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!!!!!! How wonderful. And if it is twins, that's just double the blessings.
TTC (this time) since February 2008. Long history of Secondary Infertility.
June 13, 2011: BFP on 12dpo! Due exactly 4 years after I began TTC.
Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is permanent.
2nd BETA levels
Nurse said levels look great. All we want is a happy healthy baby. If we are blessed with 2, that would be great too!
Ultrasound is scheduled for 9/3, so we'll find out for sure in a few weeks!!!!
Cloe- so happy for you!!!!!! I was just wondering how your beta went and I was glad to see you on this post!
I also got good news on Monday- our beta was 800! The nurse said it was too early to say if it was twins, but she said that it's a possibility given the quality of the embryos we transferred. At first I was panicked about this and worried it could even be triplets (if one split- my biggest fear- since twins run in my family.) I just want a healthy baby and if there's more than one, we'll do our best.
We go back tomorrow for the next test, and then we'll see what the sonogram says. Keep me posted about your progress.
So happy for your wonderful news!!
DH has Azoospermia due to congenital absence of the vas deference, I have mildly high FSH. Only option to conceive is through IVF.

2nd BETA levels
How many dpo were you on this beta? If it's only 2 days that's a crazy doubling time!!
See my signiture for my levels. We transfered 3 embryos and had boy/girl twins from our IVF. I had bleeding at 7 weeks and my RE examined the US pics telling us it looked like the third embryo attached, but didn't take so there was a clot that was releasing. That was where the bleeding was coming from, so I was put on two weeks bedrest until the bleeding stopped.
Good luck, have a healthy & happy 9 months, and if it is twins enjoy the ride because every day is a rollercoater ride that I wouldn't change for anything.
We transferred two embryos and my beta at 12 dpo was 231. We were indeed PG w/ twins who are now sleeping soundly beside of me.
You just never know!
Good luck to you!

Just had my 3rd beta yesterday....
1st Beta 14dp3day transfer 191
2nd Beta 1114
3rd Beta (one week later) 14,ooo
I can hardly wait a week until the ultrasound.... the wating is the hardest part!
Sounds like that could be or more. Whether it's one or more, here's to a healthy pregnancy and babies. How's the MS? Mine was so bad that it should have tipped me off. I couldn't be at the same end of the house when DH was eating because even the smell of food made it way worse than it already was. It was like all day sickness, no MS. Keep us updated.
Betas vary so much, it's hard to say.
Here are my betas for comparison. It was a singleton pregnancy.
11dp3dt = 199
15dp3dt = 1249
Me (33), DH (35), DD (2), DS (newborn)
2008 - 3 IUIs, all BFN
2008 - IVF #1... Transferred 2 day 3 embryos. Gave us our first ever BFP and DD!
2010 - FET #1... Transferred 2 blasts. BFP on 5dp5dt!
Beta #1 on 8dp5dt = 51. Beta #2 on 11dp5dt = 178. Beta #3 on 15dp5dt = 1,024.
