The backs of hands are dry, which isn't a huge deal.  They aren't extremely dry, and I just attributed it to frequent hand washing.  Then I noticed a couple of days ago that the skin on my right arm was dry almost all the way up.  Even one spot that looks like it was peeling.  I'm not out in the sun much, I did get a slight burn on my arms once this summer, but that was at the very beginning of the month.  I don't shower every day, so I know I can't be drying my skin out that way, when I do shower, I do use hotter water to help the pain in my back, but I can always tell when the water is too hot because normally, if it's drying out my skin, I'll feel it in my back, and I'm not.

Also, I have 2 spots on the palm of my right hand that are like dry skin.  One spot isn't bad, but the other is a bit more tender.  DH had gotten fresh sausages from the butcher for dinner tonight and as I was biting into it, juices were dripping into my hand.  I wouldn't have noticed normally, but it was making that one spot on my palm burn.  The spots on my palm are also itchy at times.

I normally get dry skin in the winter, but it's not really common for me during the summer.  Is anyone else getting dry skin during their pregnancy?

Life is funny. It can make you inexplicably happy, and also inexplicably sad. It can knock you down so that you feel you won't be able to carry on any longer, but then you find the strength to pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and carry on, stronger than before.

I had horribly dry skin during pregnancy.  I upped water intake and used more aveeno lotion.

Yes, I've had very dry skin this pregnancy and I take extra fish oil and regularly use lotion.  Last time I attributed it to dry winter weather (it was the first winter I had moved back to Ohio and wasn't used to the cold weather and gas heat running all the time).  Now I know it's just an itchy part of pregnancy for me.

Thanks ladies.

I am trying to get hand lotion on now, but I can only put it on at night.  I wash my hands so often during the day that half the time, I put on lotion only to end up washing it off shortly after.

Now I'm ready to scream though, my belly button is soooo itchy today, UGH!!

Yep.  I finally got some Aveeno Intense Relief overnight cream.  I put it on every night before bed.  I had several spots on my hands that were raw and on the verge of bleeding a month or so ago, before I found this Aveeno, and it took probably 3 days of using this cream overnight to clear it up.  Its fragrance free and works overnight to relieve sensitive or itchy, extra dry skin.
