Today is day 5 of stims for my first IVF. I am on a fairly high does of meds (225IU gonal-f in the a.m. and 3 vials of menopur in the p.m.). I am so sleepy...for the last 2-3 days I feel like I can barely get out of bed and am really tired throughout the day. I also have this dull headache that doesn't seem to go away which could be from the Lupron. Has anyone experienced extreme tiredness from stims?

Hi, Mandy. I can't recall exactly which symptoms I had and when during my IVF (which was only last month, but it was such a blur), but YES, I do seem to recall being quiet tired during stims in particular. If you think about it, it makes sense. Your body is working a LOT harder than usual to produce a lot more eggs than normal. So it would be tired out from all that work. Hang in there. And good luck!

Mandy: Yes. I had to take a nap every afternoon that I could around 2 or 3. Luckily, my work schedule is flexible and I can work from home when I want, which allowed me to do that. After the naps, I felt great a few hours...then early bed. So, yes, tired is definitely par for the course.
Yes, I have never been so tired in my life! Even now (2 days after ET) i still needed an afternoon nap! I guess it'll take a while for the meds to leave my system, although remember the stress of the procedure itself may well be adding to your tiredness. Take it easy and and kind to yourself.

Thanks ladies! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I can't wait for the weekend so I can sleep, lol! Good luck everyone
Hi Mandy, I was sooo tired when stimming, I actually loved it as I had the earliest nights and longest sleeps!!
Yes, I can't wait to sleep in this weekend, haha!! BTW, congratulations on your BFP!!
I experienced the EXACT same symtoms as you - low-grade headache and very tired. It was like the energy was just sucked out of me. About Day 10 of stimulation (I am on Day 11), I seemed to just wake up and feel "normal" again, like my old self! No headache and I felt more energetic. I really have had no adverse side effects other than the headache and tiredness. Am I lucky or tough or both?! ;-)
I did the "long Lupron protocol" starting first with birth control pills for a month, then 10 units of Lupron, down to 5 units once I started stimulation. I take 175 IU of Follistim and 5 units of Lupron every morning, followed by 150 IU of Follistim and 75 IU of Menopur every evening. Couple all that with a baby aspirin everyday and 10 days of antibiotics for my husband and I both. I am still amazed that I had so few negative side effects ... of course, I haven't started the progesterone injections yet! ;-)
