Yesterday I had dark brown spotting in the morning that went away fairly quickly. I got very faint lines on HPT's and a "not preg" on a digital. Today at 13DPO, I still have faint lines but got a "pregnant" on a digital... but I just found that I have dark brown spotting again, only this time, there were tiny flecks of pink in places.

ETA: I also have a mild back ache, but not cramps.

Did any of you have early spotting (as in right around getting your BFP) and have everything work out?

TIA[f]

I had spotting, it wasn't dark though, more pinkish, but mine was due to low progesterone...
have you had your progesterone tested?

Heather, I would really consider taking some of that prometrium vaginally. [f] Make sure you stay down for about 30 minutes or so after inserting it (up at your cervix) so that it can absorb.

TTC (this time) since February 2008.  Long history of Secondary Infertility.

June 13, 2011:  BFP on 12dpo!  Due exactly 4 years after I began TTC.

I'm actually on Prometrium, 100mgs, 1x/day, orally. I took it w/my DD because my progesterone was slowly lowering with each beta (19, then 15, then 12).

ETA: I asked that my progesterone be tested this morning when I got my blood done for my first beta. Been taking the prometrium for short luteal phase, been taking it since 3DPO.

I'll try using it vaginally tonight - I have little round pink pills, shaped like balls with a plastic-feel coating on them. Not sure how they'd do vaginally, if they'd dissolve or not [shr] Is this the kind you're taking ThreePrinces?

They dissolve just fine. The further up you can place them the less mess, though sleeping you should have little to no mess anyway. The biggest difference is how quickly it will work and how much is available for your body. Orally it goes through the liver before the bloodstream is my understanding and that decreases availability as well as potentially causing other issues. Vaginally it absorbs immediately and is where it needs to be per se and gets into the bloodstream quicker. s/e are generally less dramatic with vag apps as well.

dj rayne,

Thanks for the info, I greatly appreciate it. I had a little spotting w/my DD so I'm hoping that's what this is as well. On the upside, I just went and checked and literally had to get to the cervix to find any more spotting, and, it was all a muddy tan-ish brown color.

I'm hoping this is just still more implantation spotting. I'm not naive, I'm just hoping for the best .

And:

s/e are generally less dramatic with vag apps as well.

I can't work out the appreviation s/e...lol. Thanks SmileSmile

I had dark brown spotting between 14-16 dpo...then it tapered off and I haven't had any since. If it's brown it is usually old blood and shouldn't be anything to worry about. Good luck [#][fc]

Montanasky - *THANK YOU* for that info [f] I had a m/c at 9w (measured only 6w) and when I started spotting with that, it was red as red could be. I also had a chemical the pregnancy after that and that too was red. I then got pg w/my DD and this is the type of spotting I had with her around 20DPO, so I'm not *overly* concerned just yet, but still, spotting of any kind isn't something anyone wants to have to deal with.

Alexis - DUH on me! (slapping forehead...lol) Thanks for the translation... and CONGRATS!!!!!

[L] what she said! [tu]

My prometrium are yellow, not pink; but I imagine that they're much the same. I do have some slimy-ness while on the vaginal prometrium, but that's to be expected. My RE believes that prometrium taken orally is totally useless.

Congrats! I had bad spotting, even bleeding with clots when I got pg with DS and thought it was the end of it but it must have been implantation. I had it on and off for about a week.

Congrats on your BFP! Remember when they test your progesterone levels vaginal prometrium doesn't show up in the blood. I had spotting with [bg] and more than just when I wiped. [fc] that all will be well.

Thank you all SOOOO much for your support, and for all the great info... I really don't know what I'd do without you all to ask these things!

BTW, the spotting stopped with just that one occurrence (just as it did yesterday) and it's totally old blood... has to be implantation spotting continuing to linger... [tu]

Thanks again, really!!! [f]

I believe u can insert the oral tablets vaginally at least my last OB told me I could if I wanted. Taking them orally isn't as effective as vaginally cause they are filtered through the liver and such so by the time it gets in ur system its lower than the dose you took hence less effective..

Good luck keep us updated!

I had brown light spotting the three days before I got my bfp. It stopped as soon as I started progesterone. So far so good! [fc]

And I used to take the oral progesterone vaginally - they were pink pills and my dr said it was even better to take them vaginally. Now I'm taking progesterone suppositories.

Wishing you the best! [f]

Thanks all... but I took 2 more HPT's at 3am (had insomnia) and on the EPT the line was barely visible, and on the FRER - it never even showed a line at all Sad

ETA: I did use the prometrium vaginally last night and at 3am I had a little more of the dark spotting mixed with CF.

I'll be getting my first beta results this morning, and will go for another tomorrow just in case... I hate not knowing, but I'm prepared for bad news Sad
