HEllo, am new to this site and just wondered if anyone could help/offer advice?

I just wondered if anyone else was experiencing spotting for up to a week before AF.  It seems that I do ovulate from charting and OPK's although my post-ov temperatures are lower than most.

I have been using Chinese herbs and acupuncture for the past few months and this has made no difference to this spotting.

Any ideas?

Thank you for any input and good luck to everyone ttc!

Hi EJA,

You should find lots of information about spotting during your LP on this site!  I have also had this problem.  It can be due to low progesterone (although not in my case...not sure what my problem is! Shrug).  Some ladies have had success supplementing with natural progesterone cream and vitamin B6.  Goof luck!

Hi there!

I have had a similar thing with spotting. It started 4 mnths after we started TTC and went on and on and ON. First it was only a few days but it extended and at it's worst I was spotting / bleeding from ovulation right until AF. About  week a month without bleeding - great! The doctor said that my cervix appeared to be very sensitive and apparently some of the tissue fom inside t he womb had extended outside to the cervix and that would start to bleed easily on touch... He performed a cryocautery - basically froze my cervix for about 2 minutes to kill this tissue which was really painful. That didn#t solve the problem though...  I have also started accupuncture 3 months ago and found an improvement with it.

However, I also have endometriosis and apparently accupuncture can't do anything about that - I suspect that the endometriosis caused me a lot of problems, abdominl pain and severa back pain and possibly also the spotting. Had a laparoskopy only yesterday and am hoping that this wiil change things now!

we've been TTC for over 40 months now and my period has never even been a day late  - sigh...

I would stick with TCM for a while and maybe look into investigations for endometriosis as well? pain during intercourse? back pain, pain in lower abdomen? but even if you none of the symptos you could still have endometriosis - it seems to be a very trivky condition!

Good luck!

Dear MNmoon,

Thank you very much for your reply!

I had blood tests last cycle and on Day20 my progesterone was 64 which (I think!) is pretty good.  Maybe I will try the progesterone cream although I am slightly reluctant to do so if my levels come up OK in the tests.

I did try vit b6 (100mg) althought this didn't seem to help either.

I had fibroids removed in June '09 and so maybe it's a 'uterine' thing.

I have been referred to hospital to have another examination to try and figure out what's going on!

Good luck to you too!

Hello Steph,

Thanks for all the info.

I will definitely stick with TCM and acupuncture.  I was 'spotting' from ovulation up to AF originally but TCM over the past few months seems to have improved this by 'delaying' it until 4DPO.  I will mention about the endo at my next examination at the hospital.  I don't have other pains thankfully, but like you say it still doesn't rule out endo.

I hope that things improve for you following your laparoskopy yesterday. Very best of luck!

Hi EJA, I have always had spotting before Aunt Flo too although not as much as it sounds like you have had. I found that cutting out soy made a big difference to me. During Aunt Flo I definitely have more red blood now than brown too. Also just wanted to say that I conceived despite the spotting so it's not necessarily a hinderance alhough, as I said, mine was not a huge amount.

Hi tj,

Thank you for the tip!  I will give that a go re: cutting out soy.

I was so fed up yesterday but have had some really helpful feedback so I can try new things next cycle.

Thanks again!
