Does anyone take D3? I was told by my ob/gyn to add that to my list of things to take, but I thought she said to take 10,000 IU. I can find bottles of 5,000 IU, so I assume I would take 2/day, but mostly it's 1,000 IU dosage. The guy at GNC said I am supposed to take 1,000 IU, but I swear she said 10,000! She has me on mega doses of other vitamins too, so I'm really leaning towards me being right. I will call and verify with the office, but I keep forgetting to call.
For those taking the D3, do you have a brand you like?
Hi, angryuterus!
Doctors in the know have been prescribing 10,000 of D3 so I'm sure you are right about that. I'm very impressed with your doctor's knowledge! Now, one thing to keep in mind is that your body will be better able to absorb the D3 if it is in an oil base. Carlson makes D3 in oil gelcap form, and this is what I take. I think they are 2000 each, but they are small so you can take more than one at a time. I usually spread them out over the day.
HTH! :-)
Oh wait! Before I go, I wanted to give you a link to a blog by a doctor who has LOTS of vitamin D info:

Thanks!! I she has me on mega doses of all sorts of vitamins for the precacerous cells I had then had removed. I'm on vit E, Vit C, beta carotene, folic acid, and zinc for that... but then I started a B complex and dropped the folic acid since it was included. Shortly after that I also added cal/mag/zinc and since I'm on the zinc already, I also dropped it. Now she's adding the vit D3 probably to help with the calcium? The calcium and zinc I thought were to help absorb the mag.... Oh, boy! LOL lots of suppliments!
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out!
Doi you happen to know how much beta carotene I'm supposed to take? I think it's 50,000 is that right? I've only been taking half of that since I can't remember. One of my suppliments I was supposed to double up on, but then I stopped taking them when I was PG & breastfeeding. Now I can't remember.
